About your Mayor

Mayor Hippsley was first elected as a City Councillor in 2016 and served in this capacity prior to being elected as Mayor in November of 2020. 

Mayor Hippsley is committed to building and making the fine City of Yorkton an even better place to work and live. He was raised and educated in Yorkton and is very proud to call this city home. He believes that Yorkton is strategically located as a business hub for Eastern Saskatchewan where growth is the only option.

Mayor Hippsley is a professional photographer and operates a growing photography studio business in Yorkton and western Canada. He has also served on the Cornerstone Credit Union Board of Directors.

Through his work and volunteer efforts he has connected with a large contingent of the Yorkton population, over three generations, and is now proud to serve them as a municipal leader.

 About your Councillor

Councillor Brears was elected as Councillor in November, 2020.

Councillor Brears has experience on the Economic Development Committee, Planning & Infrastructure Commission and Development Appeals Board for the City of Yorkton. He is a member of many local volunteer organizations and has served previously as a board member on the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce.

Councillor Brears is part-owner of a local business that employs many people in and around Yorkton. He is focused on the well-being of Yorkton residents and the health of our business community. He is approachable and encourages people to provide any feedback that will help make Yorkton an even greater place to live and do business. 

About your Councillor

Councillor Chyz has spent more than 25 years as a business owner and manager in Yorkton. Until recently, he was the owner and publisher of the Yorkton News Review and now operates his own marketing and promotions business.

Councillor Chyz previously worked in sales at both the Leader-Post and the Yorkton Enterprise, is a board member and past chair of Yorkton Business Improvement District and serves on the Yorkton Community Development Parks and Recreation Committee. He is also an active Yorkton Co-op board member.

This is Councillor Chyz's second term on City Council.

About your Councillor

Councillor Goulden's many years of work in the community, as well as her involvement with provincial and national organizations, have kept her in close touch with the people of Yorkton and the issues that directly affect them. She continually promotes Yorkton as the best place to visit, live and do business and believes in partnerships and empowerment towards growing a vibrant, safe and sustainable community.

Councillor Goulden was first elected to Yorkton City Council in 1997 and continues to serve as a Councillor. She has served on all council committees and commissions and has been an active Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) and Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) participant. Councillor Goulden has played an active role as Chairperson of both the FCM Standing Committee on Community Safety & Crime Prevention and the National Rail Safety Committee.

As an active community volunteer, she has served on numerous community, provincial and national committees and organizations, including terms as President of both the Canadian and Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association. She has also contributed her personal time towards the Saskatchewan Winter and Summer Games, World Junior Hockey Challenge, Yorkton Dance Association, Yorkton Nursery School Association, Yorkton Sports Hall of Fame, Band Boosters, Yorkton Music Festival, Ukrainian dance, Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club, Yorkton Figure Skating Club, the Rotary Club of Yorkton, and was the chair of the Vancouver Olympic Torch Run for Yorkton along with the last Royal Visit.

About your Councillor

Councillor Haider is focused on teamwork and collaboration at the Council table. He has served on the Protective Services Committee and the Yorkton Public Library Committee and is open to hearing what citizens have to say about all local matters.

Yorkton is where Councillor Haider was raised, educated and where his teaching career started 25 years ago. During his quality time in Yorkton, he has met thousands of students and their families in the community. He is proud to call Yorkton home and is dedicated to keeping people safe in the community.

This is Councillor Haider's second term on City Council.

Councillor Wyatt has 16 years experience on City Council, three of which as Mayor. He was elected as Councillor in November, 2020.

About your Councillor

Councillor Zaharia, in his role as Councillor, is committed to giving back to the community that has served him well during his life in Yorkton.
Councillor Zaharia serves as an auditor for the Provincial Government in his professional life and believes his accounting background and keen interest in citizen issues will bring a unique perspective to the Council table.
He was born and raised in Yorkton and is extremely proud to call this city home. Councillor Zaharia has volunteered in the community in many ways including, coach and board member for Yorkton Minor Football, board member of a local daycare, a volunteer firefighter and as an auxiliary RCMP member.

This is Councillor Zaharia's second term on City Council.
